Big Black Bear makes an appearance

So on one of the hottest days we have had in a long time out comes the biggest black bear that I have ever seen. It is like 95+ with what feels like 60% humidity and this monster decides to take a stroll across the field.

Before vacation I got a chance to get pretty close to the bigger bucks in the herd. Again in my area this size deer is very rare much less together in the same herd.

I was able to slip up through the corn field to catch a glimpse.

Yesterday evening I saw the herd of 5 mature bucks come out really close to the house. Wanting to get a closer look I stalked within 25 yards of them with my video camera. It is amazing to see them this close.

You'll have to wait till I'm back from vacation to see them.....

Was out cutting grass and caught this nice young buck feeding up to the house

It never ceases to amaze me that when you think deer will be moving the least they fool you and appear almost magically. Today it was very hot and humid and I was out trying to finish up some yard work. I had just stopped the mower and got some water and just happen to look out the back window.

A nice tall young 7 pointer stepped out and made my day.

What suprised me was it was like in the mid to high 90s and very thick humidity. If you listen real good you can here my poor dog in the background.

I caught the herd of whitetail bucks again today

The herd came back out right at dusk today. It kinda suprised me because my neighbors kids were out in the yard running around yelling and it didn't seem to phase the bucks. Normally deer in my area spook really easy but for some reason these deer don't seem to mind it.

The video is kinda jerky in spots but I am working on it.

Finally a Black Bear

My neighbor called me up and said "grab your camera and run to the back door" and hung up. As I rushed with camera in hand this is what I caught.




Bears aren't uncommon in my area. I live very close to the great dismal swamp and it has one of the biggest bear population on the east coast.

Herd of Whitetail Bucks in a Thunderstorm

We had some wicked storms pass through late yesterday evening. It was around dusk and a big frontline came rolling in. As I was looking at the storm clouds out of the back window I saw a heard of deer break thru the woodline and cross into the field. To my amazement all the deer were bucks. I quickly reached for the camera and this is what I got as the storm approached.
